Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Looking @ the receipt, it has item:
 #291020008 as the reload
And #292020008 as 'amex no fee'
Is that the same code as a debit load, if not they can easily add a fee...

"Q: Can we load Redbird with credit cards at Target?
YES
It is possible that Target has plans to change the register to not allow credit cards, but I don’t think that’s the case."(quote)
am I getting this right: loading a redbird card straight from my cc counts as a purchase!?

Does deposit into a chase checking account (even though it was suggested not to) count as directed deposit?

Just tried the target by flatbush ave they said only can be loaded with a debit card

I just loaded there today without any problems. After I loaded the first $1000, the lady said "you want to do more, right?"

She also said she thinks they should up the monthly limit to at least $10,000...

As safe as any other ebay gift card type purchase i guess. Personally I'd go with the reputable guys making offers here on DDF That's actually where I got mine.

1) We can all make up answers, but for now all that matters is that they do.
2) This card has its limits, so you might still need GC's. Plus, who knows how long the cc loads will last.
3) Because they are not available in every state, so there is a demand.

So my Rosh Chodesh load @ Gateway Target off Erskine St. went as follows:
One CSE pawns me off on the other. The second gives me a look and asks why 3 transactions. After daring her (nicely) to try a larger transaction she follows through and does $2,500 total load on one card. Give her the second card and she walks off looking for a manager. Was overly nice when she returned after 10 minute stroll around the store. She said she could only load up to $5k total or "the system would boot me". Asked if it was a new policy and she said no, "very old policy". I said thank you and loaded the three remaining cards with my remaining $2,500 and left. All cards loaded with either Amex PRG, SPG and small Delta load.

Takeaway: YMMV with load amount, but cc load still operational.
