Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

you risk getting refused if you use cash gift cards = VISA, MC or Amex gift cards that doesn't have your name than any credit cards that always has your name! I have $2k gift cards and won't  use for target reload.
It is suspicious for them when you use gift cards to load!

Certainly a risk, but not very suspicious.

Some of them check the card you are using to load for the name to be matched to your ID. Most of these cash gift cards have NO NAME . The CS agent says you can't use gift cards or you can't use something that doesn't have your name. Further says how I know it is not STOLEN?. I don't think you can use gift cards but I will ask manager.
You talk back, he or she calls the manager who will  say the same thing. You talk back explaining what ever it is, they ask you to LEAVE the store. They will than do the same thing for next MSer.
Not good for everyone!

Or, as has been my experience, they just look at the card for the last four digits and go on with their days. If you're worried, you can tell them that you're excited to get an extra 5% off on this gift card you got, but really they don't care.

Don't ask the manager and ruin it for everyone else. Just try it, and if the cashier stops you, say you misunderstood and use something else. Discretion is the name of the game here. While it's totally within the t&cs to do it, employees and managers who don't know better might say no because they think it's wrong.

IME, vanillas default to debit, so the machine asks automatically for a pin and the cashier doesn't need to see it for the last four digits.

I usually have a DC with my name on it handy as a backup.

but of course if there is ever an issue, just say sorry, and move on.

For the last hour, I had trouble getting into the site on both Chrome and IE.  After I put in my user name and password, it stayed at 'processing' and didn't go through.

some of the agents  want ID  and card even before  you swipe,  right after you give them load amount
