You're also passing up other opportunities by using points, like selling or getting cash back.

It sounds nice to say its free, but in your case it only means that you don't have any out of pocket costs.

It's the same thinking that makes people believe that you can get points by paying rent with Bluebird checks,
when once money is in your BB account, you can just as easily deposit into your bank account for free and use the same old checks from your checking account.

Don't worry, I made more than you could imagine in cash since i joined DDF (sorry if that sounds like I'm showing off, but that's exactly my intention).

Are you ******* kidding me?? Consider a 75k UA miles for a LH F award to TLV, that's a value of over 10 cemts per mile!

You're missing the point (pardon the pun).

By using UA miles, even if you got 90 cents per mile, you still have an opportunity cost; namely cash for selling.

+1 I use many of my miles for trips but I always figure out what it's 'costing' me.
