The deal I really regret not being able to jump on was the lifetime Fairmont platinum status.

-And all other free trips, including
  • 2 LH F flights
  • 1 UA F flight
  • 1 SQ R flight
  • 1 LY J flight
  • 3 LH J flights
  • 1 SN J flight
  • 1 TK J flight
  • 7 UA Y flights
  • 1 AA Y flight
  • 1 B6 flight
  • 4 Waldorf nights
  • 6 Hyatt nights
  • 1 Conrad night
  • 1 Hilton night
  • 1 Sheraton night

I'm guessing when you say free, you don't mean you spent valuable points for these trips.

The points are valuble because they made my trips free. Not sure what point you're trying to make.

The point is that points usually cost money (and time) to acquire.
You're also passing up other opportunities by using points, like selling or getting cash back.

It sounds nice to say its free, but in your case it only means that you don't have any out of pocket costs.

It's the same thinking that makes people believe that you can get points by paying rent with Bluebird checks,
when once money is in your BB account, you can just as easily deposit into your bank account for free and use the same old checks from your checking account.

some people feel like they are playing shtick when they deposit in their own account. they would rather make a legitimate transaction, like paying rent

-1, I never spent a dime to acuqire points. That's why i never touched VR.

You're also passing up other opportunities by using points, like selling or getting cash back.

Don't worry, I made more than you could imagine in cash since i joined DDF (sorry if that sounds like I'm showing off, but that's exactly my intention).

But to call using it for flights & hotels "passing up other opportunities", is total nonsense.
Are you ******* kidding me?? Consider a 75k UA miles for a LH F award to TLV, that's a value of over 10 cemts per mile!

Love me or hate me. I still love you.

I went to YVR in F with the fam with that.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

There is none, I remember it being very popular though the thread got deleted by the mods to avoid some noob reporting it and messing it up for everyone.

I also used it for CX F to YVR, was amazing! - Took a few hours to get the points, but no hard pulls, and no spending!

You're missing the point (pardon the pun).

By using UA miles, even if you got 90 cents per mile, you still have an opportunity cost; namely cash for selling.

+1 I use many of my miles for trips but I always figure out what it's 'costing' me.
