Square Up is now offering to process $1,000 in credit card sales without fees (both swiped and key-ed in transaction fees will be waived)  for new Square customers.
You will receive free processing on up to $1,000 (total, not per month)in credit card transactions for the first 180 days. Afterwards, you pay the standard 2.75% per swipe for all major credit cards. 3.5% + $0.15 for manually entered transactions.

AFAIK you can refund it until they shut the account, which can take several weeks if you don't do anything else to trigger it.

When I was shutdown, they gave me the choice of refunding or having them hold the money for 45 days.  Since it was someone else' card, I decided to wait it out.  On day 45 the money was in my account.

I got the same with $230 stuck in.  I failed verification and they told me I could refund or they will deposit the funds after 45 days.  On day 46 the money was in my account.

What did you do to generate that?

I swiped GC's.
Usually I split them up in very random amounts meaning, $100 GC I will swipe for $33 and $67 on separate days....This time I did 99.99 and then the next one 99.95 and the like.
I guess they caught on.
