My terms for sharing would be that I give them a real (albeit canceled) card with their name on it in return for $50. I make no representation about which lounges they can enter and for how long (though it seems like 4 years of free entry to the lounges listed on the main site is what has worked thus far).

Does this sound fair?

How do people ensure that their added users (i.e. someone pays MR. A $200/year for the card) don't go out and rack up $50k in charges on the account?

iirc the minimum limit on an amex plat is $500 and there are ways around this (i.e. global assist cash advances).

Does the usa amex plat provide rental insurance?

Some do, even without charging the amex, but just by having it.

If that's the case, I'm in.

To clarify, does the add'l cardholder get all the statuses (spg gold, avis PC etc.)? How does that work?

It's a good question, but all I'm offering it Lounge access.

As far as SPG gold, you can call and tell them you have an Amex plat. they'll give it to you. I think the code is UI or SN.

as far as I've seen with credit cards covering rental insurance, they only cover if you pay for the rental insurance with the credit card. on that note i believe that credit cards (very few exceptions) only cover collision not liability But what you can find is that some credit cards will cover collision as a primary insurance with no deductible or going after your personal car insurance.

Damage to the car, but a wider coverage than regular, meaning also windscreens, etc

For travel insurances I also didn't have to pay.

Those amex plats are not attached to a country, but rather region.

i just had a "additional user" application (amex plat-applied online) canceled due to "no SSN" supposedly because of a new law from june that is slowly being implemented.
anyone else run into this?

$50 isnt worth it as it cost $175 just to add extra users
