I opened a new aeroplan account and transferred 175,000 chase points. After a while I realize the points are not showing up. I called them, they say that the compliance department placed a security freeze on the account. I need to email them proof of identity and address. I emailed them the proof and waited another day, still no points showing in my account. I called them again and they said it can take a couple of days…
 I need to book a ticket ASAP!. Any idea how to deal with the situation?

Almost every new Aeroplan account gets audited the last few weeks. Nothing to do. Just send what they ask for and wait it out.

besides their new parter booking fee, theyve also added another fee -

U.S. Tax Recovery Fee: This fee is collected by Air Canada as an agent of Aeroplan to recover the cost of United States international transportation taxes which may be imposed on certain flight reward itineraries.

Air transportation charges   CA $39.00*
U.S. Tax Recovery Fee   CA $28.20*

It's very annoying and really kills the value of Aeroplan for short haul flights.

I need to spend about $4000 IN SQD on air Canada to get to the next level in status, but dont hav flight needs coming up soon.  Anyone know if there is a way to buy a ticket, cancel it, and have it go into my Air Canada wallet, so I get the SQD now, and can use those funds on a future trip?

You only get the SQD when you fly the segment you paid for so that plan won't work.

How is this legal since U.S. air transportation tax does not apply to the redemption of frequent flyer miles in exchange for an airline ticket.

Is anyone else having problems searching Aeroplan availability?  I can search cash fares on the U.S. AC site, but when I try to search Aeroplan availability it switches you to the Canadian site and the search will not complete.  The airplane just keeps spinning forever.  (I've used different browsers and cleared cache, to no avail)

Either case, aeroplane is pretty much worthless today's days, as Lufthansa group inventory is not loaded.

I know it does.  The problem is that, it will not complete the search.  The plane keeps spinning. I've cleared the cache and tried different browsers but that has not resolved it

Wondering why im only seeing 70k for business to europe, regardless of direct or with stopover, only seeing 70k flights no more 60k. Maybe just the dates im looking at? Anyone else experiencing this?

depends on length of flight. zurich and london should still be 60k
