I just put down with United, they said they added a note about the misspelled name. and that note will be on the ticket so it should not be a problem.

You should be fine, especially if it's notated.

That check-in guy was an A$$. Most are not. At least when it comes to these things.

Does Aeroplan charge to upgrade the cabin on an award?

Assume LAX-JFK-FRA, where the first leg is in UA Y and second leg is on LH F, and want to upgrade to UA J.

Not saying it's impossible, but it's very very difficult.

Ticketed or held?
If it's ticketed, they will charge.

UA Y to J on same flight.
I was also told by a number of agents regarding other flights on TG and CA that there is no charge.

They didn't charge me.

But that's only if one leg is initially booked in the higher cabin (such as in AJK's scenario).

If you were to upgrade a clean Y ticket to J or J to F, that would incur the change fee.
