Topic Wiki

-Use VRBO/Airbnb and rent a condo with a private pool

-Try to avoid the larger touristy locations. I.E., when travelling to the Bahamas instead of going to Nassua try a different, more secluded island.

-Try colder destinations (E.G. Canada, Alaska, Mountain areas, etc.)

-Even in warmer areas, non beach destinations are always better (E.G. Arizona, Utah, etc.)

+1. everyone always talks as if its all about warm places. That I would have to disagree with. There are some cold places that you can go to and have an amazing time

True. But those mouth-watering TR's are usually from warm places.

Maybe that's because most people that take vacations and take out the time to write up those tr's are only in the summer, but I am sure that if people really had the time to travel and write up tr's in the winter those would be mouthwatering as well ( I never heard anyone compare a tr to a steak-i like it though ;D)

Thats true! But there are still lots of warm places with no preetsus. Name it Yellowstone park Wyoming. Or even Arizona. etc. The problem of warm places are by beach type like Florida and Hawaii. Even though if you want a worm beach vacation, you can go between the north and south beach in Florida is empty!  Again summer is summer. Non Jews will always dress in worm places with little clothing but the real problem will be by beach types.

See for example Dan's Banff TR, SF's Yellowstone/Grand Teton TR, All of the Alaska TRs. Those are my favorites that come off hand, I'm sure there are more excellent ones...

True, once you stay away from water based destinations the Pritzus drops dramatically...

Mostly the point of going to a warm place is to do it during the winter... But Yellowstone for example is considered the coldest spot in the lower 48 due to its elevation and topography (it's essentially a "bowl" of mountains which traps cold air and keeps it there till the summer).

In the summer Yellowstone should definitely be considered as a trip to "cool off" rather than a warm spot - we had snow and freezing temperatures there even in June.

i actually looked into going to Yellowstone in winter but it is not a very easy trip to do. They dont allow normal vehicles in the winter only snowmobiles or snow coaches.

Definitely not easy but supposed to be AMAZING (not to mention way less tourists).

FTR, the Mammoth area (north entrance) is open all year long to regular cars for a couple of miles in, but that hardly gets you anywhere.

Oh. Actually got to trust you  because you were there and i wasn't.

Btw i was reading your posts of Yellowstone and Alaska over and over... off topic but i wanted to ask you

1) which of those 2 destinations would you recommend? (I assume both are Pritsus free).

2) which go pro did you have in Alaska? I'm going November 2 to Arizona sedona and Grand Canyon i want to buy a go pro. Sorry again off topic.

I know you asked SF but it probably depends on how much time you have. For 2-4 days go with Yellowstone, if you have a week+ def go with Alaska.
