Just started using it, where is the archive option? Does "done" archive the email?
Yes.

Yes.
Actually seems like that is incorrect, >:( I must be able to have consistency when viewing my emails in thunderbird or elsewhere...

EDIT: seems like the ones in the social tab (all my Amazon orders :) ) did get archived. But the ones in my primary inbox did not. I guess it is a little buggy still.

Hm... In one of the first articles I read about inbox, it said that marking an email "done" achieves the same thing as archiving it.

Then again, I'm one of the few on here who actually treat my emails (in Gmail at least) as a to-do list. So, the "done" feature does exactly what I need it to do. I never bothered to find out more.

I get lots of to do messages every day,  I archive once done. But I am accessing the emails from phone / laptop/ desktop.  And it must work in Thunderbird as that is what I use most.

What's exactly the point of all this?

They should've just add the snooze feature in regular Gmail and no need for this whole headache.

And why people are dying to get an invite is beyond me.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

I've been doing the same thing as Google inbox for some time already.

when an email comes in, I send it to the appropriate folder. if I want to save something for later, I "star" it and then I just go the the starred folder. it's the same as pinning it

I had inbox a while ago and i stopped using it after a few days. mostly because there was too many new things to learn, and it kept messing up my gmail.

I used to have it on my phone but I took it off because I didn't see anything useful about it for me.

I'm actually a big fan.  I like how it keeps the emails separated into categories but makes them prominent enough that I don't forget about them.  I use Inbox for personal email and Gmail app for work..
