Google figured out the trick to rolling out updates.
If you just make the change and force it on people, they'll just complain about how the old one was so much better, instead you gotta make it limited availability and by invite only and everyone is falling all over themselves trying to get in on it :)

(on that note, if anyone has an invite for me I'd appreciate it :) )
