Instead of closing, I thought that simply not using the card while surviving multiple waves of shut downs would let me ride it out until a couple more statements closed. Sbs was another reason I rolled the dice bc I have a lot of au. Didn't work, just got closed on. Messed up my koshermag order grr.

So mp and cm- I wait until the points WOULD have posted to call? My statement is 27th so in a couple days + in a month? Also closed with a balance. Just a mess...

Not a big deal. Apply for a few Amex cards today.

If your card is opened and are afraid of them closing it then apply for another BC now.

One thing we know for sure is Amex is taking a different approach with all their cards. Lets just hope for everyone's sake here SBS is not on their radar. It would be a massacre for DDF.

I've been using it for regular purchases - groceries, gas, etc. Statement closes Nov 13, so hopefully I'm safe 'til then.

Don't be too hard on yourself, people who had "sock drawered" the card still got shut down. After the 27th, call to claim the rewards from the month prior and in a month call for the rest.

The rep I spoke to tonight said they were having technical issues and that he couldn't get through to the rewards department. I called the same number and got an error message as well.

I was still able to redeem my last batch of reward dollars, get confirmation emails, get the rep to confirm on the call that they'll send me a check for the balance, and close the card.

On the bright side, I probably shed 10 lbs this Thanksgiving

Exactly why I didn't load up on AUs like everyone else. Better safe than sorry with Amex for now.
