Been striking out on chat and phone on getting my reward balance from a closed account. Chat keeps giving me phone numbers to call. Phone keeps telling me its all forfeited when it's closed.
Thanks to those that have PM-ed trying to help.

Guys I am Mark Reynolds over here. Adam Dunn. Chris Carter. Drew Stubbs. Chris Davis. Ryan Howard.

After like 10th chat rep told me to call I am starting to bug out. I actually dropped a YMMV on this guy.

Quote
Cyrus: RBIII, Cash Back forfeits once the Card is cancelled.
Cyrus: I am afraid, I do not have access to it anymore.
Cyrus: I suggest you to call on the number at the back of your Card. They would check it for you...
you: That's what some reps say, and others are redeeming the rewards. It's been YMMV
you: They have same access as you, but if you won't do it for me, you won't do it. thanks anyway
Cyrus: RBIII, if Card was active. I would have helped you redeemed it but now we do not have access to it anymore.
Cyrus: I really apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.
you: It's probably hard there's probably some trick you need to do or something to get in there
you: again if you can't, you can't. it's all good. ill try calling again i guess.
Cyrus: RBIII, I tried multiple times before saying this to you.
you: it's just super frustrating because it's like over $500 i believe
Cyrus: We really do not have access on cancelled Cards.
Cyrus: I can truly understand your concern.
you: i appreciate it, you sound cool about it. seriously. thanks for trying multiple times
Cyrus: Thanks for your understanding.

Been extra careful with the new Amex card= Everyday card wife got  2 weeks ago. Have spent $550 only with $501 being a load.
It has $2k  spend req for 25k points offer.
She like myself have been Fred before and chose to close out cards and never been able to avoid FR.

What's the strategy here to meet  $1500 in 2 months and not get hit with FR?

Probably not to start with a load of $501 out of $550 spent so far.

If you do a number of transactions on it, some of them in the 100's so that the eventual $501 won't stick out, I would think you should be ok.  Remember, you can always put a credit balance at certain stores so that would be a nice few hundred (or more) spend.  Think grocery, tuition, membership dues, prepay bills.  One $501 a month (x2) leaves you only $500 to spend.  Easy.

I wonder if this will stop the shutdowns since you can't get more than 2,200 per year

Does anyone know if this is in affect for current cards, or just new applications?

It was $50K in spend or in CB?
It's worse than I thought... :(
