Don't like how this sounds. I'm planning on getting the card soon and doing the same thing. Please keep us updated.
So $15.5K was NOT only on Hilton in Jan? What about ONLY on Hilton?Ha, who wasn't at 20x that when BC was working well?
This was actually the only significant spending on AMEX since the blue death reported back in Oct.As far as Hilton goes, I hadn't spent sweet f**k all on the card since the $40K I spent in Jan of last year
Hopefully this is an isolated incident.
Yeah, I'm sure as a general rule, it's scarier to creditors to see a spike to $40K in one month, than to do 3-4k/month for a year.
In the latest news in flyertalk, Amex is following a new policy to close all the accounts once an account is closed
Link?
Oh yeah... completely slipped my mind. I did spend $6K on my BCP card on Jan 2nd... and just checked... and ... yup... that card is cancelled as well.Only AMEX cards that remain are those that I haven't used for MS purposes lately.
Are you CA resident? From flyertalk, only CA residents are affected so far.
Amex has really taken a stand with the new bonus limit on personal cards and shutting down MS'ers.
Well... then that pretty much puts them as next to useless for my purposes. That said, I've been pretty much forced into retirement now (as it's not like I can get Citi/Chase/WF in the near future either).

Lol. Forced into retirement or time to get a job?
Lol... Fortunately I never did give up the day job, although during the OBC boom AMEX was paying me about twice that I was getting from 'real work'... It's just crappy to have to adjust the lifestyle for the seriously diminished income.
What have you done? How do Citi/Chase/WF all shut you down?
