Should be able to do it when you log into membership reward site.
Looks like I can only do in increments of $25.... What if I want to close my card?

You can't redeem less than $25. Should be options to do it in higher increments.

It's offering me $25, $50, etc... That's why I feel like I'm in the wrong place.

I believe they have $1,000 option. Can then add quantity.

Why close? Do you have the old unlimited BC?

You are now chatting with Melissa.
you: Hi!
Melissa: Hi, welcome to American Express Chat. My name is Melissa. How can I help you today?
you: I would like to close my Blue Cash card ending in XXXX
you: But first, I want to redeem my cashback. Can I get a statement credit for it?
Melissa: Let me quickly check this for you.
you: thanks
Melissa: Am I chatting with etech0?
you: yes
Melissa: Thanks for confirming.
you: sure
Melissa: I see there are 33.64 rewards dollars on your account.
you: right
Melissa: You can use Rewards toward your Statement in increments of 25 Reward Dollars.
Melissa: Please log onto americanexpress.com/rewarddollars to make a statement credit.
you: hmmmm
Melissa: The credit awarded will be equivalent to the number of Reward Dollars redeemed.
Melissa: Just know the credit will not apply to your balance until the next month's statement even though you will see it posted on your statement within 2 to 3 business days.
you: so if I want to close the card, I lose $8.64 of reward dollars?
Melissa: Correct!
you: that's a shame! is there any way around that?
Melissa: I am really sorry however as per the reward structure on the card it can only be redeemed in increments of 25
you: I am closing this card because I want to open a different one instead - the Blue Cash Preferred. It sounds better because it earns 6% cashback at groceries, instead of 5% that this card does
you: but it would be a pity to lose that $8
you: do you have any ideas for me?
Melissa: Sure, I will make an exception for you.....
Melissa: I will process the credit for $8.64 on your account.
you: That would be amazing!
you: You are so nice, Melissa!
Melissa: Been my pleasure!(smile)
Melissa: The credit will post in 24 - 48 hrs.
you: super!
you: if I close the card today, will that affect the credit?
Melissa: Nope, the credit will still post in 48 hrs.
you: that's wonderful!
you: You have been a huge help, Melissa
Melissa: Pleasure is all mine!
Melissa: One moment please!
you: sure
Melissa: I have a small disclosure to read before we cancel the card.
you: okay
Melissa: I'm completing your request to cancel your card. Please destroy the card.
Melissa: Any outstanding charges will be billed to your account. We may increase your APR if your payments are late or returned. Any pending or current Penalty APRs will still be in effect. You will continue to receive a monthly statement until there's no more activity on the account. Please note that you need to immediately contact any merchants that bill you using this Card to stop the automatic billing.
Melissa: However.....
Melissa: Please redeem your points before the card is cancelled.
you: :)
Melissa: As you will need the card details to redeem.
you: I just put through the redemption of $25
Melissa: Excellent!
Melissa: Then shall I proceed with cancellation?
you: yes please
Melissa: Thank you!
you: thank YOU
Melissa: You are most welcome!
Melissa: I have cancelled your card. Please confirm the email address on your file so that I can send confirmation.
you: xxx@xxx.com
Melissa: Thank you!
Melissa: You will receive email in few minutes
you: great
you: so I'm all set?
Melissa: Absolutely!
you: Thanks for your help, Melissa
you: Have a great day!
Melissa: Been my pleasure!(smile)

I was cancelling it anyways, to make room for an Everyday Preferred and a Blue Cash Preferred. I got a statement credit for my "unredeemable" cashback balance that was less than $25.

You left a balance over ? What else would you do with the credit ?
