I see. & there's no way they would mail you a check for the credit amount ?
I didn't ask - a statement credit should be fine, because I had a balance... no?

You apply it all as a credit and then ask for a check after.

Ah, you mean if I have a negative balance. That makes sense.

Yes. You can redeem for more than you owe. Once you have a credit balance...

Well...

Now the 'orange triangle of death' has disappeared from my HH and BCP cards (still present on OBC card sadly).  CL also restored.  Clicking 'Check spending ability' proves affirmative.  Perhaps AMEX has decided to have a change of heart on this...  But, knowing my luck they're just tormenting me and will close the cards the moment I go to use them, or better yet just before statement closes.

Has anyone recently had luck getting Amex to redeem rewards dollars after getting shut down?

Hear any news of people getting rewards after the "30-day grace period"?

Is there any recommended strategy for those who still have the card and have been laying low? Do we know what type/level of spending they are allowing?
If they are not allowing any more "free spending" on this card, is there any reason to keep it open?

Hit it as hard as you can for as long as you can.

It's a free card that gives 5% back at groceries... Even if you don't - hit it as hard as you can - isn't it still worth it for groceries...

Take into account that the first $6500 only gives you 1% on groceries. So if you did (let's say) 12k spending a year, you'd average at <3%.
