Considering that they max out new cards at 50k per year,  it would seem that would be OK. Now cm will ask,  "that's what morning, what about afterwards?"

Take into account that the first $6500 only gives you 1% on groceries. So if you did (let's say) 12k spending a year, you'd average at <3%.
My $6500 went so quick that I forgot about it... Good point though...

Hit it as hard as you can for as long as you can.

If it could potentially affect my other Amex accounts, then that doesn't sound like a good idea. My question is whether anyone knows what level of expenditures or large purchases will draw Amex's negative attention?

I just noticed that on EX it does not seem to show the card as closed by bank. Is that normal?

Has anyone has any luck recently getting Amex to release the cash award earned after they were shut down?

Anyone know if spending the first $6,500 on serve would qualify for reaching the threshold?
Similar to the way serve doesn't earn points but does count toward minimum spend threshold on other amex cards.

Bump.

Can anyone let me know either way and save me the hassle of adding $6,500 using serve only to find out it doesn't qualify?

Not getting a PM would be a good thing in this case.

Add some.  Call/ chat with amex to see how much of the threshold you've accomplished.  See if they counted the serve spending.

Thanks for the suggestion. I called and chatted with Amex, but both times the reps were unfamiliar with this card (it's more like a legacy card which they don't advertise anymore) and were unable to give me the amount of spending I have completed so far. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens when the next statement closes, if there is anyway to tell from the actual statement.

I'm surprised no one else tried this before or posted about it, I can't find anything on FT either.
