What was your CL? And what were you putting through the card each month?

after reading Flyertalk I don't think that matters
but I had 9K CL I would put 10-25K between 4 users on the account.

DING DING DING we have a winner

...... We have a looser  not a winner.

I am sure the CL is not the issue

the amount of purchase is
I would say keep it under 5K/month per account now

Amex T&C
"Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. "

I spoke with a supervisor at Amex and he said youa re allowed to buy Gift cards but you are not supposed to get rewards..
I said: well I did not do anything worng your system has the issue and gave me rewards.
He said: I understand you did not do anything wrong but due to the ammount we have to close your account..

Makes no sense but they can do whatever they want

If you are spending double or triple your credit limit every month you are going to get flagged. Especially if it's all at the same store.

this is my main card 5 years of purchase history or so

I have bought thousand of dollars of stuff that I might need the MAex warranty , return protection etc..
beside you can not get the old original Blue cash card..

Calling Executive office did not seam to do anything different

As long as you have another Amex card open, You'll still be able to claim Amex Warranty for items purchased on closed card.

Another one bites the dust.

While redeeming my final rewards balance I got the dreaded email...
At least I was still able to redeem my rewards.

This idea will cost you, but it will retain your amex warranties and credit history.
Tell Amex you're sorry.  The system gave you rewards that you didn't know you weren't entitled to.
You're ready to give them back.  Amex should figure out how much reward cash was over paid to you and you'll pay it back.  But please keep the card open. and you won't do it any more.

I got the notice the day reward cash back was applied to my balance
so I guess they processed the cash back and said that is the last you will get

Ach. I have rewards sitting there that I want to get out and I want the card to stay open till after SBS. I'd rather close it than have them do it, but I don't know how to best proceed. Yours is not the first report I've heard of a closure during a redemption.

She is wrong.

she is not wrong.. because according to the term of the cards, prepaid cards and re loadable cards are not eligible as rewards purchase..

Gift cards that most buy are not prepaid cards or reloadable. Financial regulations are clear on this. End of story!

+1. There are some things that you just don't argue with Chaim about.
