Still have to confirm visa issues... some things I read online say the TWOV (transit without a visa) is good as long as you have an onward ticket; some indicate that onward ticket has to be to a third-country, and not back to country of origin.

Anyone know one way or the other?

I don't think it would be an issue in Brazil.

Right. I'm not worried about GRU, as I can transit airside between AA and JJ without going through immigration.

Agree or disagree: If I am able to get all three boarding passes (JFK-LAX-DFW-GRU) in JFK before departure, I shouldn't have an issue.

I don't think you'd have an issue regardless. Onward travel is onward travel.

Not necessarily true. For example, "onward  travel" within the context of a Chinese TWOV requires transit to a third-country. One could not do JFK-PVG-JFK without a visa.

Considering my wife is not coming with me (which means I'm pushing it with wife), and considering I'm going to AKL in less than 4 weeks i"yH (which means I'm pushing it with my boss), and considering my companion can't really afford to take off any more time (which means I'm pushing it with him), well, that means EZE has to wait, even though I'd love to do it.

ETA: The whole thing is moot anyway, because there's no JJ awards back after the one I'm booked in.

A visa is not "officially" required when employing TWOV... but you're right that's where the whole issue is.

Well, if officially I'm in the right, and transit to a 3rd country is NOT required, I'd simply escalate as much as I needed to. If I'm not in the right, well, then I'm turning around and going to office instead of Brazil.
