Digital Sign
« on: September 01, 2022, 11:53:09 PM »
Looking for a screen that can be used as a digital sign - to hang on the wall in a school and show announcements.
I need one that can work in the vertical/portrait mode and is about 50".

Probably similar to the display screens they have in some shul lobbies or the advertising ones in stores - how do those work / receive information?
Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with this?

As aygart said, you can get any big screen and attach to a mini computer (computer stick etc.)

On the computer you run something like https://digitalsignage.com/ (there are a lot, this one is free and pretty good) which you can setup nicely and control with your account remotely.

If you want a hands-off solution setup and managed/maintained by someone else then something like beezeesystems.com can be for you (but will probably cost more.)

Thanks.
Looking into the mini computer concept to be able to update remotely.
For now I am looking for something very low tech, perhaps to insert USB and have it play a ppt slideshow (only need to change the text once a week, not to automatically update with graphics, weather, date, etc)
Any recommendations for a screen?

This is a good price, are there certain specs I need to look for?

The question is if you can even do this without some small PC. TVs' own system is generally extremely limited.

This is cheaper and probably better (Roku is certainly versatile than Fire TV) https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/882330602

Another option is this https://www.walmart.com/ip/TCL-50-Class-4-Series-4K-UHD-HDR-Smart-Android-TV-50S434/512822921 that has Android TV that may support digitalsignage.com (see https://www.digitalsignage.com/_html/android_tv.html).
