I'm looking for a task manager that can handle two types of recurring tasks.

1) When I check off a weekly task, it becomes due a week after the original due date
and
2) When I check off a weekly task, it becomes due a week from today.

MS Outlook can handle both of those, but I'd prefer something else. Any ideas?

TIA

FWIW, the Wunderlist Windows 10 app seems to be much easier to use than the regular Windows app.

Right now I use workflowy for all my projects and tasks, except for tasks with a specific deadline (eg: my credit card  closing dates), which I right now have in wunderlist and am thinking of moving to Asana.
At work I use workflowy for projects and Outlook for recurring tasks with deadlines.

I REALLY wish workflowy would do due dates. It's on their list of features they plan on working on.
What do you find better about Workflowy than about Wunderlist?
Workflowy and Wunderlist are really two categories of todo apps. Wunderlist is very linear. You have lists, lists contain tasks, and tasks can have subtasks. At that it excels (though I've found that subtasks are a little klunky to use). You can have due dates, you can have tags, reminders, etc.

Workflowy is an outliner program. One of its strengths is how easy it is to take an item, and make it into a project, by just starting a sublist under it. Workflowy makes it really easy to move things around, reorganize your thoughts / lists, and to quickly open a blank slate to map out a project. It's very intuitive. It also handles tags beautifully, making it easy to bring together items from all over.

One of the shortcomings of Wunderlist is that when starting something new, you need to decide if it's a list or an item on a list. And once you start there's no way to change it besides manually cutting/pasting. Thus there was no intuitive/enjoyable way to map out a project. This can easily and painless be done in Workflowky.

I like how Workflowy can show me items from any level in the hierarchy, just by searching for a tag. So I can tag anything with #today, and then pull them up all at once, even though some of them are basic tasks and some are deep inside a project.

I also found that once my Wunderlist got bigger, it got very slow and klunky to use and browse/review.

The biggest feature that Workflowy is missing, IMO, is due dates. So if you're looking for something to handle time based tasks, Workflowy is not it. In that situation I'd recommend Wunderlist or Asana (Wunderlist's interface is nicer and IMO more intuitive, but Asana has the advandage of handling multiple types of recurring tasks.)

If you decide to go with Workflowy, I highly recommend browsing through their blog (and its comments), as there are lots of useful tips/tricks in there.

Also did you ever try OneNote instead of Evernote?
I haven't tried OneNote. When I got started with Evernote they didn't really compare. At this point they are more similar, and based on the research I did, it's probably worth giving OneNote a try when I get around to it.

The most mentioned difference I've found is that OneNote is more focused on organization of your notes, whereas with Evernote you are relying more on tags / search (which is great, btw) to find what you're looking for. Also, Evernote's web clipper is supposed to be better, which is very important to me.
I'm also not sure if OneNote has a feature where you can email in a note.

If anyone tried both recently, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Was searching around and I found https://checkvist.com that seems similar to workflowy, but was more robust features including due dates.

Anyone uses/used it?

There is also Moo.do which is supposed  to be comparable. I did a bit of research into the 3 of them, and went with Workflowy because people said it was the fastest. That said, I really miss due dates, so if you like checkvist I might decide to check it out :)

Meanwhile it's on my list (in Workflowy of course!) of Apps to try out when I'm bored :)

Update: so is Todoist, and I like its interface a lot better (so far).

Todoist's browser extension is great - this way I don't forget important deadlines (CC close dates, anyone?) because I forgot to open their app or website. It's always there, with a little icon telling me how many tasks I have due today.

Love it!

Right now I'm using both - workflowy mostly for projects but also for tasks, and todoist for recurring tasks / anything with a specific deadline that I don't want to miss.

That's annoying.  I started using wf and really like it for the reasons you have mentioned but the lack of due dates really ruins it and using 2 separate ones is not a solution for me

I know, it bothers me too. Luckily, my projects (which really benefit from workflowy) don't usually have strict due date/deadlines. I've been considering moving all my tasks to todoist and leaving workflowy for projects, but I don't like that either.

I do have a weekly calendar of sorts inside my workflowy. I wrote up once how it's set up - I'll find it and post it.

Here's an interesting discussion comparing Workflowy, Checkvist, and Moo.do

IMHO asana combines the best of both wl and wf. I'm a fan :-)
If anyone if interested I can discuss in more depth
