El al and jet blue?
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:36:30 AM »
Does anyone know if Jet blue is going to let you accrue miles to their FF program now that they are partnering with Elal instead of accruing matmid points? Since the american partnership is over...are there any other options of accruing something other than matmid points?

Or is there something that I will be able to transfer matmid points to?

Thanks!

I don't think accruing mileage or making transfers between the two mileage programs is in the works. Right now the application to the DOT is purely for a code share agreement, allowing El Al to put their codes on JetBlue operated flights. Until now they were interline partners, allowing a passenger to purchase a single ticket with both carriers in the itinerary.

Having an alliance makes it harder to get DOT approval and I don't think it would be beneficial to either carrier.

Sure. What I said is my opinion, I am not sure what will be down the line. There is always a possibility that El Al and JetBlue will form some sort of alliance down the road. If you travel often, Matmid points can be quite valuable.
