I just tried my spg as well and got the same message. But after reading the t&c I know why. It clearly states that it's just for the premier rewards gold card:
"To be eligible for the offer, you must register your Premier Rewards Gold Card at americanexpress.com/premier30 by February 11, 2011."

I guess not, but it looks like a nice promo. You might have to buy a fountain soda at one or two of the fastfood places to easily qualify...

I got this offer today yesterday on the wife's card. I had this offer about 2 months ago on MY gold card and never ended up completing it. It requires making a purchase at 6 of the 18 locations. Was too much of a hassle to go to all those locations (that I don't normally go to) for $30 statement credit.

got the invite for a couple of gold cards.  seems like a lot of work for $30, but it does allow for online purchases (think you can order a large soda at mcdonalds online?  )

I tried registering my PR Gold card and got an error message saying it is a targeted promo. For those who are saying that it's hard to go to 6 places, most walmarts have a Mcdonalds in them= 2. Dunking Donuts, Target, Exxon and Home Depot are all near my house. If someone paid me $30 an hour to visit all these stores I think I would spend an hour on that!
