Can fuel be dumped for LHR?
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:12:18 PM »
I searched the DDF but haven't come up with an answer.
I'm trying to get my parents award flights using their AA miles to LHR from BOS in January but they'll end up paying 1100 in fuel surcharges or something like that.

I have been reading about 3rd strike, etc, but have really hit a wall in my understanding.
Can anyone please PM me as to what the best solution would be for this?
Thanks!

The concept of 3rd strike dosent really apply to award tickets, only paid tickets.

However you can try like what @yalili said flights operated by AA will lower some or try different alliances.

Even from JFK.

AA doesn't have any direct flight from BOS, you would have to take a stop to one of their hubs. Post in the award travel thread the dates you would like to go.

Iberia and Air Berlin don't go to BOS, so would have to be two stops.

Oh, but you can't book them using AA miles, never mind.

Thought about that one too, before I was thinking that they are only BA's partner not AA. Anyway they had no J availability from BOS to DUB or SNN.
