Getting miles for booking my coworkers flight
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:14:29 PM »
Thanks in advance for your help.
I have to book a couple of flights for a coworker and I have to use the company CC. Is there anyway I can book and earn?

Two type of points I can think of:

-Expedia/Orbitz rewards

-Shopping portal points with one of the above OTAs.

That's the only legitimate ways for you to earn something on your co-workers' flights. Although some may argue about the legitimacy of earning in your UR portal when you use your employer's CC.

Can I create a Travelers Profile for him in the UR Travel and Explore and then use company CC or it only posts points if I would use the sapphire preferred?

No, you didn't understand what I said.
Don't book through Ultimate Rewards, use the Ultimate Rewards portal to go to a third (forth?) party travel agency to book it for you.
That way you can get both - UR points and that OTA's rewards, whatever junk that might be.

If you are booking AA (and I'm guessing also u.s. airways) you can earn special perks such as AA gold and lounge visits

If you are using the UR portal pay with chase sapphire so you will get 2.14ppd + the bonus from the portal. IMO this will get you the most valuable points

I have to book a couple of flights for a coworker and I have to use the company CC. Is there anyway I can book and earn?

Several Airlines like Delta and Southwest allow the company that is paying to earn points as well as the customer.

Make sure that's the right approach.
IME, Rocketmiles had higher rates than hotels.com, so you might pay a premium for a few miles.

And take into consideration that you 1) also earn additional point booking on hotels.com through the UR mall; 2) there are a few hotels.com coupon codes floating around saving you ~$20 per booking (or per night if you're really in the mood of saving money  ;)   ); 3) you get a free night after 10 nights (but they expire after 1 year).

I know this is an old thread but figured the info still applies and now I don't need to start a new thread.  I book a ton of hotel nights for others at work and found this when searching for info on Rocketmiles.  I use hotels.com a lot and have a number of free nights already but I was thinking I'd prefer now to pad my airline miles instead and would try Rocktetmiles.  Are you saying though that if I click to hotels.com from the UR travel website if can also get UR points for all my hotels.com bookings?
