true, but one steak, a box of cereal and 2 bottles of orange juice are the whole day's allowance for 2 people.
You drink 2 bottles of OJ in one day?

Also, he forgot to include chocolate chips in his budget
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

If your getting supported it's not so simple, you should ask a rav if you should give masser if your being supported by others

Masser is a Minhag
According to some shitos it's a minhag. According to some it's a chiyuv Derabanan. According to some it's a chiyuv D'oraysa.
Even if it's a minhag, it's still the Halacha.

I will be asking my Rosh Yeshiva regarding this issue

If you're learning in Kollel and trying to stick to a budget, you don't eat steak. You find ways to make cheap and filling meals.

When making a Budget with my wife for our year of Shana Rishona we came to this conclusion.
We will not be supported together we will be earning $2600 a month I will be tutoring and she will be working as an English teacher in the afternoons.
Our expenses are as follows
Rent including all utilities-$1100
Grocery's-$120 a week = $480
Car insurance-$111
Gas and tolls-$100 (two tanks)=$400
Total being $2191
The extra will be for stuff that come up Ex. Dry cleaning)
I Have a car from When I was a Bochur
We both have cell phones from when we were single
I plan on applying for Jersey care (as of now I am still on my family plan)
Are we missing anything?
I think save some money if you lose your tutoring job. Those seem to come and go from zeman to zeman.

Demanding support ?
Supposedly in some communities, the level of a man's learning ability gives his family the "right" to demand a certain level of support from the potential inlaws. No further comment.

Better yet, the OP can eat his username (maybe substitute the bagel part for something cheaper).

1. True support is emotional support, ie: better be getting $450 with a smile and knowing they want tk give it then 10k with a bitter taste in the mouth both for taker and giver.

2. The ones that ask/ get support were taught that in their schools/yeshiva

3. This topic is growing dark green mold.
