seems like those numbers makes sense, maybe some slight variations
it could also depend where you live and shop
skyguy- if your only home 70% then you have to recalculate your math because its not for 52 weeks its more like 35 weeks so its 175 a week which is more believable but still light
also do your kids eat regular meals or very little, do they need lunch for school and snacks or do you pay for school lunch? just some possibilities why some people's bills may be more for the same size family
$120 was the number for the whole week, so you can't just multiply by 52/35.
My kids are 3 and 1.5, neither gets food from outside the house (we send lunch with the older one to school). Sometimes they eat a lot, sometimes they don't eat much. My point wasn't to compare to a family with 2 teenagers, or even middle schoolers. My point was just that it's more than a couple alone would eat.
I think $70 for a couple for a Shabbos is a reasonable estimate.
I had in the past estimated. It was around that.
Everyone has their own things they like to but L'kavod Shabbos.
Things you buy L'kavod Shabbos you get paid back for
100%, I don't mean to encourage anyone davka to scrimp on food for Shabbos. I know a lot of people have specific things they love to have for Shabbos, I just don't personally have anything like that beyond what's considered standard Shabbos food.
That's true, here in Queens everything's more expensive than far rockaway/ 5 towns.
Meh. I live in Queens too. Aron's regular prices are pretty good, and between Season's and Aron's sales you can usually stock up on certain items cheaply. There are also plenty of items that it just makes sense to buy elsewhere, be it the non-kosher supermarkets (Key Food, Stop & Shop, etc.), Costco/BJ's, Target, CVS, etc.
