Award ticket trading a thing?
« on: October 29, 2014, 07:15:11 PM »
I have a bunch of southwest miles, but I normally fly using AA or United. Is there a community where people trade award flights or something like it?

true, but it could get a family of 8 from NYC > LAX  via 4 SW mileage tickets and 4 companion passes.

only 5 people in my family so I have two companion passes- but if I had a need for more I would do it in a minute.
I could do it for anyone else if they could figure out a price they were willing to pay for getting them companion pass

Not sure what your point is...

Besides, not sure how you manufacture companion passes at will, but for most people it's not as simple as you make it seem.

none. We have 2 CP. Went to LA for Pesach on SW for $0 and 2 cp. Just giving an example...
(If all stars align right in a few years, we could get 2 more CP.... but may depend on the SW offers and MS opportunities at that time.)
let's pray for target to last longer than cvs + VR.

Yeah.. baby steps though.  I'm just trying to get from MGA - TPA.

I'm short miles and with all the fees the cost ends up with same as a standard fare.

How would you have more than 1 companion pass?  I have 90k points and never even had a use to activate the pass. Southwest just doesn't fly anywhere I want to go...

If a husband and wife each have one and then we can each put a child as our companion - they fly free.
It was possible to get 110K points in a calendar year last year bec they included the 50K sign-up points towards that goal, B"H. Thanks, Dan.

Your 90K points can do a lot. And, they may likely fly where you want to go, but you may have 1-2 stops first...

I see.  Can you post credit card bonuses to someone else account when you put your flyer number in the credit card offer?

Sadly sw doesnt fly to Nicaragua.

they do (however the annual fee is higher now). That was written later in the year. It's harder to meet the 110K spend in Nov/Dec. Now in Jan, it's more doable for 2 SW cards and the 110K pts for the CP.

yes, it's doable (only $2K per card), but it's easier after Jan. How long do you have before the AF kicks in?

I don't know why it's easier after January. My statement closed on 12/2/14, which gave me ~30 days to do the spending. And you have to do $10K, not $2K per card. AF gets posted right away. 60 days to get it refunded.
