Great post again. How is it even legal to stuff so many people on that plane, looks like there is no aisle, everyone crammed together. Like ur play on Chaba(d)[a]..
Makes zero sense to ask how something is legal in Nepal :P
The seats were folding chairs crammed into a 2-1 configuration. The cockpit was wide open, I had the front seat and watched the whole landing through the pilots windshield.

Wow, interesting world  ;)
From with camera was those photos taken?

Was the scariest landing in my life. That airport is on every list of worlds scariest airports. The runway 500ft on a 14 degree slope with a clif at one end and a steep mountainside on the other. No second chances or missed approach.

Yes it is on every list for good reason. Any factual reasons, like frequent plane crashes there?

Considering the conditions, surprisingly few. Officially the pilots doing the KTM-LUA route are amongst the best in the world.

What year were you there? Yeti Airlines (airline you flew) had a bad accident in 2008, killing all but 1 on board.

You weren't scared to book on that airline? People in Sao Paulo are still scared to fly on Tam from CGH (domestic) airport, since their accident a few years ago.

The way things work at LUA you don't really chose. There are few flights a day (usually only in the morning because in the afternoon clouds come in and the airport closes). Sometimes there can be days or weeks at a time with no flights. I've spoken to guys who were stuck at Lukla for a week trying to get a flight back to KTM. So if you find a flight you get on it.

That being said, I don't remember if I heard of the 2008 crash at the time and if I did I don't think it would have mattered much.

Yeah, wish I could have gone more south. I was only there for Pesach to help the Shliach with his Seder* and had to go back right after so didn't make it too far out of Bariloche. Besides after Pesach is too close to winter and you can't go too far south...

That is the world famous largest Seder, think they are over 2000 now, in a few different locations.

Yeah they have one in Pokhara and one in Manang which they have to send in the supplies and Bochurim by helicopter (started the year after I was there).
