Looking for a summer job for a mature 13 year old boy in Lakewood. Preferably not a counselor job, rather something in an office or store.

Sure it is.  There are just limits on how much he can work.

Nope.
From the US Dept of Labor website:

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) sets 14 as the minimum age for most non-agricultural work. However, at any age, youth may deliver newspapers; perform in radio, television, movie, or theatrical productions; work in businesses owned by their parents (except in mining, manufacturing or hazardous jobs); and perform babysitting or perform minor chores around a private home. Also, at any age, youth may be employed as homeworkers to gather evergreens and make evergreen wreaths.

It was 20+ years ago, but I had my first job (on the books, reported) younger than that.  Maybe they raised the age.

Hm, could be things are different now. I work for a shul and I know we have to be super careful when hiring childcare counselors that they're over 14.

For what it's worth, spoke to a Uber NY SUV driver yesterday - he claims on his slowest week he brings home $3000 working 6am-12am. After gas and Uber's share, but before 600/mo insurance and 1000/mo for the car (which he will end up owning).

That's well over 100k/yr.

For an 18 hour day ( 126 hour week???) that's not so high.
12K a month - 1,600 required expenses = 10,400 a month.
at 18 hours a day, if he works
7 days a week = 30* 18 = 540 hours a month= $19.25 an hour
6 days a week = 26* 18 = 468 hours a month =$22.22 an hour.

It only adds up to so much because of the insane hours.
If you want to make over 100K, go for a job with a  higher hourly wage with less hours!
