Airline miles with Avis non-airport rentals

I frequently rent from an Avis location next to my office, have Preferred status, and am trying to figure out how to get United-Continental-AA regular or bonus miles for my frequent rentals. (Aside for just using a mileage CC) I know most of the bonus rewards are for airport locations only. Any thoughts? Thanks!

SF, if the AWD isn't correct, only 500 post. And if the proper AWD is inputted, it skyrockets the rate by like $30 or more (in other words, not worth it). This is true in every instance I've tried in the states. Out of the country where you have rates that do not depend on the AWD is entirely different.

Thats why I never used their AWD and yes, I had to give them a call, and it all posted.
