Misleading advertising or true?
« on: November 06, 2014, 12:19:06 PM »
Received this email from a broker who I should probably name but won't for now.

"Sell your miles now before an industry wide devaluation beginning January 1st 2015."

I have no interest in selling miles (now or ever) but if there is an upcoming industry wide devaluation of miles I would like to know. Is there any truth to this? I searched these forums but didn't see anything about it.

I got the same email, no idea how they even have my email, but anyhow I believe they are just trying to get people to sell them their points/miles and it's totally baseless. If my assumption is correct, this is a nasty way to advertise.

He may as well search for the aeroplan devaluation of 2011, or the american devaluation of 2009.

What's that gotta do with the price of tea in China?

I'm far from an expert in this field, but IME when there is a hint of a devaluation somewhere it gets around relatively fast in these circles.

Not sure I'd call that a big devalue.
