Nothing spooky about the UAE.
I'd advise booking a refundable rate, unless you're 100% certain in your dates.

Looks like it was a mistake to post exact hotel I am looking at on forums... price jumped very significantly.

Thanks. Ended up pulling the trigger on the place- went with non-refundable since we are pretty sure we want to go to the SPG Le Meridien Koh Samui for the 2 nights before... it costed 233$ USD for 2 nights, same nights on hotels.com was 378$! Place looks beautiful with great reviews so hopefully we will have a great time. *fingers crossed*

My CC wouldn't work. Error said "this is seen as a high-risk transaction". By the time I tried it again/another card, the hotel was booked for my nights. Too bad.
