I searched for O/W NYC to IEV 11/18/14  (don't know if it works on other dates)   and got LY to TLV with a 12 hour stop over , and as always no one will force on to the next leg

Why is that a good deal?

It's not a horrible deal, but I think you can get with regular TA same price thru out different dates in the year
