Sold miles, broker never used them, what's their status?

Cld the broker have been able to reinstate the account himself? That should make a difference. Though 1.5 yrs is a ridiculous amount of time for a broker to hold on to miles. Even if he bought it for stock...

If I buy miles cause I like to see them expire and go to waste can the seller reinstate the account and claim it's his? A claim can be made that it belongs to the broker no matter what.

Wouldn't this be a purely halachic question? I don't see why anyone here's opinion on brokers and points should have anything to do with it, to me it seems like a straightforward shailo in mamunis that should probably go to a rav.

Yes. But presumably the rav would need all these facts.  The point of this thread is so that when the rav googles, he'll have the relevant info

I hope a Rav wouldn't pasken based on some quick reading on DDF. Someone not familiar with the industry isn't going to find the information they need anywhere online.
