Food Dehydrator
« on: November 11, 2014, 03:06:35 PM »
Hi All,

I want to buy a food dehydrator for my wife for a birthday present.  Anyone have any experience with using them and can recommend which model to buy?

Thanks!
Yisrael

If she's already done research and has an opinion, see if you can tap into that.  You don't want to disappoint her by buying the wrong thing.

I know she hasn't done any research into it.  She has been talking about getting one as she really enjoys dried fruits.  She is very hard to surprise so I don't want to even bring it up to her because then she might suspect I'm going to buy one for her.  That's why I turned to DansDeals for advice!

Give her a card and put a note saying you saying you are going to get her a food dehydrator. This way she gets surprised and will be a part of the decision process.

That is a great idea....however, it means that the research will first have to be done then and I know my wife....she would much rather receive the actual item and be able to start using it right away.

Have a couple options in mind and have her chose from those.

I once made raisins in my... oven! They were great.
Does it work for other fruit?

But it's flaishigs!  :o
You use it as a random snack? Or as a 'meal substitute' ?  Only in the evening, or do you remember that you're flaigshig if you've had it mid morning?

I have it as a snack.
Why would it be different than remembering you ate any other kind of meat?

Your parents must have raised you right.  My kids almost shudder at flaishigs too early in the day.  A flaishig nosh is an interesting concept.
