China to NYC on *Alliance in J or F?
possibly SQ or TK...maybe book with UA so you don't pay YQ.  There is a direct HKG-SFO flight and then can continue on to EWR.  Others have thoughts?

ORD-PHX for July 4th weekend is currently $227 RT on AA (no AA award availability for times I need).  Is cash the best way to go?  Need to buy 4 tix and hate to spend $900 but also not sure I want to blow 100k UR on SW (or 80k UR on BA), which seems like the only alternative.

80k UR is worth a chunk more then $900.

Would you consider selling some UR? Then it'll only be 60k

Sell 60k UR for 1.5 = $900. (you might need to sell a bit more to get an even number that a broker / agent needs).

Need to fly ORD-LAX RT with 4 in September.  I can book on VX for just under 75k points.  Worth it to transfer 60k SPG to get the 4 flights?

Can you fly out of Midway instead?  Then you can use SW points.  Also if you are willing to have a stop you might be able to get a really cheap flight out of ORD on Frontier.

Right, what I'm asking is will I still get the mileage discount for Sq r if I book over the phone?

ok my bad then. Usually if an award cannot be booked online and you book on the phone you get the discount. But I never did that with partner.

No. Not if you are booking SQ R + LH J on the phone. IME you do not receive the discount for partner bookings.

Why not book the SQ R leg online (and get the discount) and then call up to add LH J to that.

Bags should get checked through to final destination right? Total cost would just be adding  57k for Sq and 35k for lh f?

Should not be a problem. Also, there is no LH F for FRA-TLV.

it would be more expensive than just booking the whole thing on the phone as one itinerary 75k < 57.5k + 25k

Partner awards use a different charge which doesn't have the whole discount concept

Looking to book NYC-CPT rt in J for 2 Pax using MR/UR/Citi, is SQ the best way to go and try and snag LH flights? ANA?

Routing flexibility would be nice, but I mostly want availability+least point cost. Thoughts?

Ah so basically I would be doing a voluntary downgrade for the second leg?
