AA 22.5k off peak rate, if you book within 21 days of the flight it'll cost you a $75 close in fee.

24.6K UR through CSR portal for Air India or 22.5k AA + $159 on AA metal.

IIRC more tax/yq. And I think AA's Y is nicer on that route.

Agreed. Just saying. They tend to have good availability.

Wouldn't it be better to pay with CSR portal, not have any additional taxes and get to credit Star Alliance mileage earned on the flight?

Better? Depends if you're willing to fly air India in Y for 7-8 hours.

trying to weigh this myself. have bout 31k with aa that might be better spent together in peak season or whenever vs general value my UR.. any thoughts?
also landing closer to queens would be helpful, though if airindia is reliable would rather save more value

TLV-AMM-DXB-AMM-TLV

I have Avios, AA, as well as UR and lots of MR.
Looks to me like the fees (taxes and/or YQ) via BA and AA kill the deal...hundreds of dollars.
Other options?
Thanks.

Y? Checked revenue? Occasionally that flight is around $200 RT.

Revenue on FlyDubai (is that okay?) is $265, which is not much more than the combined RT fees with Avios or AA. Sounds like revenue is the way to go?

Yes. FlyDubai doesn't fly to TLV. Going through AMM or IST?

I figured AMM, but I guess IST is an option.  What do you think about driving across the King Hussein Bridge to get to AMM? Seems like it might be the quickest routing. I think you (or someone else?) said it was pretty stinky when you went.

Need to get a visa in advance. And the border crossing isn't the most hassle free situation.

hi!

pardon me if i'm posting to the wrong thread.

i have a chase sapphire card and as the UR points can be used towards booking travel at 1.5 cents per mile, I want to use this option now. however, i'm doing a flight search for a specific flight, and the chase travel booking site tells me how many points are needed, AND how much it would actually cost if i was paying with cash. the cash amount they want is $100 more than it would be if i was booking directly on the airline's site. It's showing as $282 for purchase, and 18,806 points if i want to purchase with points.

Can anyone explain why?

thanks
