What airline are you seeing?

If LH or LX, it's possibly phantom availability.

They're all pretty standard. Try to find availability and use chase for united.

AUh-JNB "J" However they wont let me book as one and crazy amount of miles if booked separately, Any ideas??

(AA on the phone is quoting me as 170K miles which appears excessive)

A few hours. I don't need the Stopover, however its the only "f"  availability I can find.
If booked as 2 separate I can book it direct on Eithad for about 175K AMex

Yes well its first class on a routing that needs to be broken into 2 so it'll cost a lot.
