Also, "fake J" generally means European-style which is regular coach with a blocked middle seat. The Copa J is basically domestic F.

Right I meant domestic F,

So basically all the carriers fly a domestic F product to PTY

Correct (ex-USA, at least).

Dan recently mentioned that he booked UA in the summer US - TLV for 140 RT. The Wiki still shows best option to TLV 115k SQ. Any reason not to do A3 90k RT? Why don't I see much discussion about that? It's also almost free to change/cancel. Am I missing something here?

Probably only transfers from SPG, so hard to accumulate.

Hi- maybe someone can give me some advise on whats the best way to use my miles. im planning flying NYC to San aug 28 - sept 3rd with DW and 2 kids one of them is lap infant. since I have SW CP I booked 2 tickets+CP (total 3) for about 60K round trip but the issue is that they don't have nonstop. so DW asked me to look for some other options and I saw that Delta has perfect nonstop both way for total of 97500 points +34$ for all 3 which I think is a good deal, at the same time I have amex BP with DL selected and if I book thru them each ticket is worth 500$ totaling for all 3 tickets 150K miles which after rebate I will be paying 75K. my question is whats a better deal? book with my delta miles? book with amex? maybe a diff option?

For reference, I'm going to be in WAS to start this trip.

Option 1: IAD-CPH, SAS J
              CPH-ZRH, SK/LX Y/fake J
              ZRH-TLV, LX J

Option 2: IAD-MIA, booked separately, no award space available
               MIA-ZRH-TLV, LX J

SK J looks like a better hard product than LX J but basically my question is whether not having to connect in Europe is worth the extra cost of the ticket to MIA, and the slightly inferior product on the long haul.

Youre connecting in Europe, the question is once or twice. I would personally do the 2 connections in Europe over IAD-MIA. The 2 products from what I've read are similar. And you get to try something different than the LX A-333 on both legs.

True, I was reffering to the extra connection in Europe as apposed to just flying through ZRH.
Yea, I'm leaning toward that as well.

Why torture yourself with MIA and the fact that there is no award availability.

The reasoning was not to have to deal with the extra connection in Europe but you're right, it's probably not worth it.
Now I have to decide whether to build the long part of the layover into CPH or ZRH.

My experience in ZRH over a 7 hour layover was nice.

What'd you do? Did you leave the airport?
