According to Google maps.
Depending on the day and time of day. Its About 5-6 trains and takes about 7+ 11 hours I don't know the cost.

What would be the best way to book decent J/F cabins from NYC to JNB? Looking at avoiding YQ (at least excessive yq) and for carriers/programs with relatively easier availability.

The way I see the options:

LH with United miles. (via FRA)
CX with Alaska Miles (via HKG)

AA awards flights will be almost always be on BA with exorbitant YQ, and their routing rules wouldn't allow EY via AUH/DXB.

Do any of Delta's partners have premium cabins worth the mileage? AF perhaps?

Could the The SAA non-stop flight be booked as a United flight with SQ miles (it has a United flight number)?

So, what am I missing?

Best bet is booking VS, AF or KLM via Delta for 80k each way.

You can use AA on QR via DOH
