If I want to book tickets to Florida for December should i book now using points or wait until after Thanksgiving for a better deal? I’m just nervous if I wait it will only cost me more. Is that true?
Definitely book now .

What's the best way to get to SYD or AKL?  Not asking in terms of least miles, rather what typically has decent availability without waiting too close in.

Anyone?  Looking for March and no one seems to have decent availability in premium cabins, from the East Coast.

You will pay YQ with SQ.

UA and AC both wont charge YQ, with AC you will not have to pay close-in fee.

However with United its almost 25K more miles and I can't redeposit, should I choose not to fly?

Use AC, no YQ and you can cancel the ticket without redepositing, the ticket can then be used for up to a year.

If I book a United flight (e.g., BOS-EWR-TLV) on Amex with Biz Plat points, will I be able to pay cash (presumably on the United website after ticketing) to upgrade from Y to EconomyPlus? Or, do they only offer that upgrade "bundle" when you purchase ticket on United.com?

Economy plus is not an upgrade. It's available as a separate purchase. If booking with Amex it's considered a regular ticket just like any other travel agent
