2 different questions, but yes, similar point.  Not sure when OP plans on flying, but in advance LO has decent availability out of JFK.  In fact they often release 4+ seats in J, sometimes even more.  Not sure out of YYZ.

Specifically on YYZ-TLV? Or in general?

If in general -1, as I've booked multiple seats many times.
That

AC does not release more than 1 J seat (at a time?) YYZ-TLV on the 787.
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

SQ charges YQ except on UA. Its virtually close to the same in value when you put them side by side with 70/80k UA.

Chase UR into UA is instant, any program into singapore depending on when you transfer takes 1 hour-2 days about. One of the main reasons why it may be worth it to use SQ is that 4 different point currencies transfer into their program.
From OP:
Would rather pay some YQ right now than use UA miles(which are becoming harder for me to get), have many MR so could go thru SQ i guess. any idea of the YQ there and is there anything better?

LO releases LOTS (NPI ) of J seats for partner award travel.  Granted, last minute and December and summer will be tough.  But if you are booking in advance they are a great option.  Consider that they have 18 J seats and consistently release 4+ seats per flight.  For example, in January, February, March 2016 almost all dates have 2+ seats, at least 50% of the dates have 4+ seats, some have 6 and a few dates still have 8 seats available.  Yes, 8 seats in an 18-seat cabin.  That's amazing.

One issue with LO to TLV is you usually need to take a long stopover in WAW.  That can be a + (see WAW) or - (longer to get there), depending on your preferences.

You can use ita to figure out (estimate of) yq

On the OS flight I am checking ITA shows $185, SQ wanted $564 and AC $478.

So there is no correlation, is this the exception or the rule?

400's is correct.. my gut feeling is that you are looking at an economy ticket.. the YQ for that is in the upper 100's

Stick with AA. Or a skyteam partners with AR.

That doesn't seem too bad. Might have answered your own question there.
