Which one is a better deal?

JFK-VIE-KBP in J

52.5k Aeroplan plus ~$490 YQ

or

70k UA plus $69

52.5k Aeroplan plus ~$490 YQ

70k UA plus $69

52.5k Aeroplan x 0.014 = $735 + $490 = $1,225
70k United x $0.0125 = $875 + $69 = $944

I wanted to give you a breakdown vs just a yes or no answer so you can see for yourself how to calculate this..

Why do you value aeroplan more then united ?

1) I don't dictate the market, the market dictates the pricing.
2) Aeroplan has more sweet spots than United

I'm 9k UA short. Transfer from UR change the scenario or bring it a bit closer?

52.5k Aeroplan x 0.014 = $735 + $490 = $1,225
61k United x $0.0125 = $762.50 + 9,000 ur x 0.015 = $135 + $69 = $966.50

Nice write-up

Well, thats nice of you to say..

I am a fan of explaining why my thoughts are what they are so the person asking can hopefully next time do the calculations on their own or maybe even help others.

However, the truth is that this isnt any special math.
Any 3rd grader can do this

True but not everyone goes out of their way to break it down and explain the reasoning & calculations.

Should I book for 6k UA and pay for baggage or should I go through Dan's corporate account? Tickets (for the flight UA offers) retail now for $83.
One advantage of going through Dan's account is that I can take an earlier flight that UA doesn't offer, but that flight costs $154.

Edit: I just realized that I can book for 5k AA as well, but only the later flight. Does this change anything?
I don't think that award seats will open up for the earlier flight, as there are only 10 seats left.
