When using VX points to book a flight on VS, how do I check availability? VS website?

What's the change policy on a VS flight booked with VX points?

Plus YQ, probably not worth it. ANA has no YQ on AC but RT required.

I'm not saying this is the best way, because I'm not familar with all programs offhand, but consider UA Open jaw

I sound like a broken record, but class of service matters as well as RT/OW

Which is best:
JFK-HNL
2 passengers
United - 360k miles RT (with stop) in first class on 757  -would transfer UR
Delta - 330k miles RT (non stop) or 312k with 1 stop on way there - both in R on 767-400 - would transfer Amex MR
AA - 300k miles RT (with stop) in J and F - not sure how to transfer for this -dont want to waste spg here
HA - 320k miles RT (non stop) in F - not lie flat bix so not really interested- would transfer Amex MR
Chase  UR portal - 252k non stop Delta flight mentioned above
Amex Travel- 314k for delta non stop option mentioned above

Pay $$ for Delta option above $3148 RT (this was the cheapest payment option from the above)

Do I hold and wait for better options of did I not look somewhere?

I am also considering flying one way on United for 180k and one way on delta for 130k one way from the flights mentioned above.  Considering this to experience more first/business options as this would be DW first high end vaca (on points).

Would like to save SPG points for hotels.

Of course will post a complete TR after.

TIA

For xmas - New years time. No saver on united or AA (not so shocking for AA) as of now.
