I just checked Quantas LAX-SYD or MEL either direction and they show no "F" or "j' availability for the next 6 months. Am I doing something wrong or is that the norm?

1) How would I book JFK-PPT-MEL  J+ Preferred (Im assuming I need to stop in LAX and AKL)
2) I can't seem to figure out how to check hard availability on TN.
3) Can I do as a one ticket MEL-SYD-LAX by booking Quantas thru Alaska?
4) Finding anything on Virgin Australia appears practically impossible

I have all types of points prefer not SPG

Basically Im trying to mimic AJK itinerary. (http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=58730.msg1340257#msg1340257)

Thanks

EWR - SAN one-way
UA miles, SQ or A3?
It's less than 21 days prior to the flight so UA has a close-in fee

I don't have LH
What rate for each? You have A3 in an account already? Or transferring from SPG?

Cant see how you could go wrong with A3 at 12.5k OW
Just confirm no fees.

would be better to use AC, can be done online
A3 should be saved for better uses

Didn't think of AC. Ended up using UA not to "waste" my A3 on this. Chaval I paid the close in fee....

This specific flight $600+. But the cheapest option was $379
