I had officially booked JFK-SFO-HND, but got switched at airport to JFK-LHR-HND (i don't think that changed anything, but i could b wrong). Looks like it was $1,088.50.

Does Etihad site show sometimes phantom guest first/business availability? I'm seeing guest first but AA doesn't see it.

That's more likely an issue with AA than it is EY.

Which one to choose?
EY J on new 787 or EY F on 777?

F, no question.

Would there be any difference between 787 F and 777 F? Still a good chance that 787 F will open bc all 8 seats are available...

There is a difference.

787 is newer, perhaps a bit more elegant, but I also think it's smaller with not quite as much room as the 777.

Dan mentioned in main site post that AA miles can book JFK-Maldives on Etihad for 90K in FC (apartment)

Was wondering if anyone can point me to more info about this

Also does anyone know if would be possible to board the plain and do this trip with an Israeli passport? (wife)

Go to etihad website and search for award travel (book with miles) for the date and route you want.  You need to see award that is in Guest category.  If you find what you want, e.g. Guest First, call AA and ask to book that flight with your AA miles.
Not sure about the Israeli passport, but I assume if you do not leave the airport should not be a problem.

Well I can think of a few reasons why not, that's why I asked.

For one I don't think you can pass border control in AUH with an Israeli passport (I may be wrong), second I heard of Kuwait airlines refusing boarding to an Israeli passport holder on a flight to London. So I would like to get a difinite answer on this

actually Israel don't even stamp your passport anymore (i think partly for this reason)
