In US, I always tip them. How cheap can you be... Flying on a ticket that may cost $20k and and not throwing the guy a $20 is just bad form, imo.

What? According to your logic everyone else deserves to be tipped, FA, Personal chef, Pilot Etc.....

Uhm, no.

You may not be aware of this, but pilots and FA's are standard, *required*, fare inclusions in the price of a ticket. Can't sell one without them.

Did you not tip your driver thinking he was equivalent to a pilot?

Does the chauffeur expect a tip?
I gave he was very thankful, and I guess it's a kiddish Hashem if they know what a Jew is.

Those don't usually get tips.

But if he got a complimentary haircut at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at JFK for flying VA, a tip would seem like the right thing to do.

Just because the chauffeur service is complimentary, that doesn't affect the amount the chauffeur driver gets paid, hence, why is the chauffeur driver any different than the rest mentioned above?

Tipping taxi drivers is complimentary.

Your logic is impeccable. Both pilots and chauffeurs get paid for operating mechanical modes of transport. Therefore they are the same.

Except they aren't.

The former never gets tipped, nor does he expect it, while the latter almost always does, expects it, and those tips are part of his or her negotiated salary.

Comparing Pilots and FA's to chauffeurs in this instance is like comparing apples to hand grenades.

Yes in Brooklyn they know what a Jew is, where in DXB they may think that I'm a Muslim or Christian!

So I called Etihad and in transit passengers can access this lounge.
The good thing about the arrivals lounge is I can keep my hand luggage stored there for the day.
Good to know. Was kinda banking on that without researching.
Does in transit get chauffeur?

No to chauffeur but I will give it a shot. There is a free Etihad bus that goes to Dubai.

My friend ended up tipping the driver. He ended up waiting for him for an hour and was extremely professional and courteous about it.

From what I understood, the driver was told to show up earlier than he was supposed to.

My driver took me from IAD home 70 miles to Baltimore. Took almost 3 hours in traffic and only cost me an extra ~$40 to Etihad since it was outside their 60 mile radius. The guy definitely appreciated the nice tip on top of that.

Please read the question carefully before answering:

Does anyone know if my wife, traveling on her Israeli passport can transit in AUH (or DOH)?
Looking for someone with experience please.

On the phone last night with EY regarding upcoming A380 Apt. booking, the phone agent was at once clearly engaged with the product and at the same time, clueless:

1) on the return flight, my wife is in seat 2H. He proactively encouraged me to take 3K over 1H (which adjoins 2H) because he had determined that its better to avoid the galley and lavatory hubub and noise over being in adjoining seats and we can always dine together. On the outbound we have 3K and 4K, so I'd actually like to compare the differences between the aisle and window adjoining seat lay-outs).

2) When I asked him to see about requesting kosher wine service, he got carried away about how its not necessary to request kosher meals, not as a prior QR agent suggested, due to the high Halal standards, but because the on-board chef in F can fully customize a meal to my kosher needs. I imagine that they must be trained in how to properly bless the food ;)
