Hey Hershel,

I just met your Match, met a guy formerly from BP but now Modernish, who went from AMM>DAM went looking for his Hotel at an Anti Israel\ Anti western rally in DAM while the 1st Gaza war, had to walk over American and Israeli flags on the streets of DAM to get to his Hotel, went looking for the shul in DAM at the old Jewish quarter in DAM and and no one would even walk him directly to the shul just pointed to him 2 blocks before the shul and told him your on your own now, as not being suspicious, then went from DAM to BEY with a sheyrut going through Hizbola check points followed by the Lebanese Military check points he tells me he had tefilin in his luggage. He has Facebook photos to prove it.

He also did the Pyongyang North Korea tour, but that did not empress me.

wowowo, i am really amazed , isn't such a trip dangerous ? if 1 person there detects that you are Jewish i don't have to tell you whats next , why would you do such a trip ?
however in today's days i don't thnik that its so scary to travel to Iran after the Iran deal with the US .

There is a huge difference between a Jew living in Iran who knows and understands\deals with the culture etc. then a Western Jew coming to Iran as tourist.

Better not to hide your Judaism. Otherwise they will suspect you for a spy.

Also, please describe how you come to the assumption that the "Jews are quite happy living there" ? Did you observe that somehow

Spoke to an Iranian now living in Geneva. He claims in 1979 they had 126k Yidden living there & now there is only 15,000

Any Persian jews on DDF from LA or Greatneck? The ones I asked tell me they have cousins in Iran who live a decent to good life and some are even friends with the regime for business purposes, they live anywhere from normal to comfortable, but all live under a gun to their heads.

One persian Jew told me his aunt even moved back from LA to IKA while others claim its too dangerous to go back.

Just a tangential data point -- yes, I know that Iran and Iraq are two very different places:

Man who works for me is from Iraq, naturalized US citizen. Just left on one-month trip with his family to see family in Iraq. He told me that there are zero Jews living in Iraq now. Google/wikipedia seem to indicate that maybe a few dozen remained as recently as 2013, but now essentially zero.

Iraq is defiantly way more dangerous to travel to then Iran . ISIS can anytime capture you and ..... you if you make one wrong turn .

I know plenty of Persian Jews in LA. I know some that have relatives there, and have traveled back and forth without any issues. As mentioned above, the Jews there live well, and since Iranian culture is so different from Western culture, the one's who live there are not looking to move.
