Iraq TR. February 2014.

Departed JFK with Turkish 777 Economy stopped off in Istanbul for 9hrs, spent some time in Istanbul (my second time) after midnight I departed to Ebl and was transferred to the Monoco hotel, which was quite decent.

On day one I visited the Citadel of Arbil, which is claimed to be the oldest inhabited city in the world, then I visited the site of the Battle of Gaugamela, where Alexander the great defeated the Darius's army which lead to the fall of the Persian Empire.

Day 2 I visited the city of Lalish, The Yazidi's holiest site, hidden in the mountainous region in the Nineveh Province, the people are real nomads and rarely visited by foreigners.

I then continued to the city of AlQosh, in the Dohuk region.

AL Qosh is mentioned in tnach, in נחום, תרי עשר

The book of נחום stats off

"משא [על חורבן] נינוה, ספר חזון נחום האלקושי"

I visited the ruins of the Tomb of Nachum, which one upon a time was a pilgrimage site for the Jews in Iraq.

Yes, a Chaldean Christian family has the key to get in.

Most if not all Neviam are considered holy

No, I did not disclose my religion, I didn't want them to ask too many questions either

Where's your next exotic trip? Yemen? I would love to go iran, iraq, syria but it ain't happening anytime soon, though could see moroco happening in the next few years.

If there would be Jews living in Yemen I'd be very interested, but as far as I know the only Jews remaining live in a secure compound in Saana, not interesting to me.

Now that I completed my Hard to get to places, (besides Syria) I'm in for some relaxing.

4. African Safari. ( any advice?)

Hope to complete the top 3 by February.

ISIS doesn't give a Crack if I wore a bullet proof vest with the word "PRESS", in matter of fact that would be the equivalent of wearing a t-shirt with the word "kidnap me in ISIS lingo.
