Wow, what a day. And amazing pics and TR as always.

That sinking feeling in your stomach is just awful.  Had it in HNL 2 weeks ago myself for a few minutes at least...

Surprised you didn't want to do the hike down to 3 bears.  But I guess you really can't do it all.  I've done RTH 3 times and still want more.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Wow!! Fabulous pics and TR!! Sorry about the mishap :P! I once had my camera stolen at Disneyland (it was only a $250 cannon ::)) so I am sure it was that feeling I had in my stomach the rest of the day x10000000!!! (Especially when I was taking pictures with a disposable camera-every wind and click just made me cringe  :D)

Nice job.

I feel so sorry for your stolen equipment. fortunately it was only your lenses (imagine your SD card would be in your trunk then...) and lucky for us you had all equipment until almost the last day  ;D

From what I know of SF, it's highly unlikely he would lose more than one day's worth of pictures in that case...

(unless his backups were also stolen)

I'm only up to day 5, but this tr is awesome! I really appreciate the time and effort that went into this
Totally makes me want to do Hawaii in the summer.

Wow time and time again SF probes himself as one of the only guys here who can take a real photo. Amazing pix great composition!

Absolutely beautiful. I love how you focus on your destination more than on the trappings...

Wow, great segment. Awesome pictures. Brings back great memories!

Thanks for another wonderful segment, SF! Boy, that must have taken too long once again to put together, so thanks!

Do you know what time you got to RTH in the morning?

We got underway at 11:30. This let us avoid the rush of the day-trippers.

Yup, what a day!

Three Bears is undoubtedly amazing, but we just weren't in the mood of dealing with the crowds. We wanted to do something off the beaten path instead, and the cave fit that perfectly.

What happened in HNL?

If you notice, the last two sunset pictures are both just a drop too tight (the palm trees are cut off at the sides of the first one, and the foreground falls away on the right side of the second one). Oh how I was pining after my beautiful wide lens then :'(... Every time I look at these two pictures I get that feeling in my stomach.

But like I said, I pretty much pushed it out of my mind. The next day I simply worked with what I had and didn't think about it.

Bingo. As soon as a card fills up, it gets separated from the camera. Each night, a full backup is done in duplicate, and the two backups kept in different locations. Here, I had a laptop with one backup in the car (well hidden, B"H), and the hard drive with the second copy was left in the cottage with the rest of the luggage.

And absolutely, if you gotta get your stuff stolen, it always helps if it happens at the end of the trip, rather than at the beginning :D...

All the crowds stay up and gawk.  Nobody ventures down to the beauty below.
But you'll get there next time :)

What happened in HNL?
Put a bag with my camera in it down in the hotel on a table for dinner, went to take the warmed up POM meals from the waiter, and the bag decided to go for a walk...

Oooh... I so wanted to take a picture of one of these, I love the way the flowers all peak out at the top only (not to mention the nice big splash of orange in a sea of green). But I only saw them from the road, not any of my stops, and I don't remember seeing any near a pullout. Did you stop in the middle of the road?

Utterly ridiculous TR! I must say that I enjoyed it even more as I hadn't read it at all and just spend the last hour reading this entire Novel.

Makes sense. Would you agree that you didn't hit up too many different things on Day 1 and even spent a lot of time at some sites (an hour at Ching's Pond)? (Totally fine - I understand you had 2 days and opted for quality/time over quantity.)

Oiy, you continue to make the rest of out TRs look amateurish.

Its amazing with how great these pictures are, you still can't capture the beauty with actually being there. Nahiku was stunning and no matter how many pictures I took, there is no way to capture the scenery that gives you the same appreciation as being there.

At least it seems that you found it in the end. No such luck for me :'(.

Yup, there's still many things we have left to do there.

Very true.

If so why didn't you use panorama assist?

Many reasons. Moving water, perspective distortion issues, etc.

I'm pretty sure not too many people noticed  8)

This was from a tiny one-car pullout along the road. I don't think I even left the car for this picture.

If you click on the picture you'll see a map on the bottom right of where exactly it was taken.
